During the past 20 years nearly 30 new, independent professional collections concerning technical-natural sciences and history of workshops, museums and exhibition rooms have been established. As a continuation of a line of technical museums, such as that of mining, metallurgy, the chemical, petroleum and aluminium industries and a number of others, the Museum of Blue Dyeing in Pápa was set up in 1962. Efforts at creating a museum of the textile industry, an institution collecting material all over the territory of Hungary, go back to 1968, and now the Ministry of Light Industry has issued a commission for Textilipari Kutató Intézet to make the necessary arrangements . After the Museum has been established, it will have the task to demonstrate the development of the Hungarian textile and garment industries in a historical perspective, to find relations with development on a global scale, to search for relics, both objects and documents, and to collect, safeguard, register, process and exhibit them, conducting scientific activities and disseminating general information at the same time.
