on the results of this preparations as well as on future tasks at a scientific conference held at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences with the title: "The East-European Theatre". The diversity of the lectures clearly shows that the Institute of Theatrical Scienoes strives to encourage the active co-operation of researchers of different disciplines in solving the problems of the theatrical scienoes. In his lecture dr Ferenc Hont emphasized the importance of creating common East-European theatrical sciences. Eastern Europe is a geographical denomination, but it has social and historical notions as well. The social and historical development of this territory and consequently ita culture, especially the theatrical culture have common characteristic features. Defining these featureB would mean an important contribution to the aolution of the probléma of the theatrical aclenesa in general. The organization of thia co-operation was found necessary also because there are several scientific and practical problems which cannot be aolved by the individual East-European countries relying on their own recourses only.
