Bevezető

INTRODUCTIONGg Introduction In your hands there is a very special edition of the Theatre Yearbook. This year we collected the data on two consecutive seasons of the Hungarian theatres. The thematic structure, however, follows our tradition: the first part features the data on the permanent companies and venues performing in Hungarian, with a mention of the seat prices, where available. The same data can also be found on the production companies, receiving venues and open-air theatres. Information follows on the academic institutions engaged in theatre training and data about the different theatre organizations working in Hungary. The second part covers the special events of the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 theatre season. You can read about guest performances of Hungarian theatres in the country and abroad, on what, where and when it was performed, and, respectively, what foreign shows were guest-performed in Hungary. There is also a list of who received awards in the two seasons, what theatre festivals and meetings were organized, and, finally, what personal losses did the profession suffer. The volume concludes with an abundant bibliography of the theatrerelated monographs, magazines and plays published in this time period. Already a tradition now, a DVD annex covers the full list and cast of all productions of the two seasons. We would like to believe that the insights given by this yearbook can be relevant not only for the small circle of theatre professionals but we hope that it can also be perused by the theatre lovers either as a tool to help remember their cherished theatre experiences, or to think about transformative events hidden behind the seemingly dry figures. And for us, employees of this institution, the yearbook is important because it reflects all the joys and troubles we have lived through during the tasks and events of these past two seasons.
