INTRODUCTION Introduction Based on positive reviews we are encouraged to publish our Yearbook in the new format which includes the data of the 2012/2013 season as well as a DVD supplement. In order to collect the extensive data, and make it easier for present and future researchers we included part of the data on the DVD. We adhere to the book format not only because of tradition but also - as we have written already - „Following the periodical rhythm of theatre life, out Yearbook is always trying to be a mirror of a given theatrical season. In the bottomless containers of computerized databases one of theatre’s special features often lets lost, namely that the performances, events, festivals, prizes and bereavements are always interfering events of one theatrical season." In the first part of the book we provide the data about repertory theatres, receiving houses performing in Hungarian both from Hungary and from neighboring countries, as well as their capacity and ticket prices. The same information is available for independent companies, open air theatres and venue places. This section also includes information about theatrical higher education and theatrical organizations. The second part of the book consist of events of the season: which Hungarian and trans-border companies appeared abroad as well as which foreign companies appeared in Hungary, including the location and date of the performances and the pieces performed. This section also includes data about awards received, festivals, theatrical meetings and obituaries. In addition to all the data from the book, the DVD supplement contains all the data about the productions. The activities of Hungarian Theatre Museum and Institute are based on calendar years instead of seasons, and DVD contains richly illustrated information of these endeavors. In 2013 the centerpiece of our exhibitions and events was the 100th anniversary of the birth of Hilda Gobbi. The Editors 8
