Néprajz - Balázsi Dénes: Új balladaváltozatok a Nagy-Homoród és a Fehér-Nyikó mentéről
ÚJ BALLADAVÁLTOZATOK A NAGY-HOMORÓD ÉS A FEHÉR NYIKÓ ... THE NEW-STYLE BALLAD VERSIONS FROM THE HOMORODUL-MARE AND NICOUL-ALB VALLEY Abstract New-style ballads dealing with topics, like the girl who gets hospitalized or people who became victims of agricultural works (e.g. the girl who fell into the thresher machine) have not been registered during the last folklore collection in the region of Odorheiu Secuiesc. As members of the Aron Tamási Ethnographical and Folklore Circle of the Secondary School of Biscani, we can consider ourselves pioneers in communicating new-style ballad versions, like the ballad of Jutka Farkas and Juszta Farkas in our handwritten school newspaper Nicou-Alb (Fejér-Nyikó). In the present study, the two previously mentioned ballads about a girl who falls into a thresher machine are treated as one, because of the similarities regarding their genre and topic. Further, I will compare these new-style ballad versions with another ballad, which I collected later on the Valley of Homorodul-Mare about a girl who gets hospitalized. We believe that by publishing and analyzing the collected new-style ballad versions, we will contribute to the enrichment of the Hungarian folkloric heritage. The content of these folkloric texts bear historic information as well, such as the name of former doctors working at the hospital of Odorheiu Secuiesc, descriptions of healing methods and observations regarding the early mechanization of agricultural works. These additional information may help the researchers writing the cultural monography of Odorheiu Secuiesc (e.g. complete certain gaps regarding the history of the municipal hospital). Nevertheless, the ballads we have collected can be appreciated by folk researchers too due to their moral content and aesthetic value. 273
