Amploarea Primului Război Mondial a făcut, ca numărul mare a victimelor să fie fără precedent până la acea dată. Sacrificiul soldaţilor căzuţi în apărarea ţării, ulterior a fost eternizat pe monumente istorice. Aceste monumente conţin adesea liste gravate, cu numele celor căzuţi în lupte, fără a se ţine cont de rangul sau de statutul social al celor amintiţi. Lucrarea de faţă este dedicată eroilor Primului Război Mondial din Hoghia, judeţul Harghita. Preotul satului, în 1929, cu ocazia inaugurării plăcii comemorative eroilor din Hoghia, a întocmit o listă, care conţine nu numai numele victimelor, dar şi ai celor înrolaţi în armată, căzuţi în prizonierat, răniţi şi decoraţi. HEROES OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR IN HOGHIA (HODGYA) Abstract The hundredth anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War offers us a great opportunity to commemorate the heroes who were killed in the war. The dimensions of the First World War resulted in the highest number of victims ever. The sacrifice of soldiers, who fell defending their country, was subsequently commemorated on historic monuments. These monuments often contain lists engraved with the names of the soldiers killed in the war, however without mentioning their title or social status. The present paper is dedicated to the heroes of the First World War from the village Hoghia, Harghita County. In 1929, with the occasion of commemoration, the priest of the village compiled a list, that contains not only the names of the victims, but also of those enrolled in the army, fallen in prison, wounded and honoured. 167
