Természettudományok - Pásztohy Zoltán: A lövéte-homoródalmási „eltemetett hegyek” kérdése
PÁSZTOHY ZOLTÁN THE QUESTION OF THE HIDDEN MOUNTAINS’ AT LUETA-MEREŞTI Abstract In the south-eastern part of the Transylvanian Basin, in the Lueta-Mereşti-Comăneşti (Lövéte- Homoródalmás-Homoródkeményfalva) area, a zone with horsts known as „buried relief” or „Hidden Mountains” is situated. The „Vár” (Castle)-hill, a partially exhumed Mesozoic Horst is imbedded in younger Neogene’s sediments. In this area, exotic (crystalline, Mesozoic and Eocene limestone) blocks are found, embedded in muddy-sandy matrix. The sedimentological and stratigraphycal analyses show that in this region island or cordillera areas were installed. The fluidized muddy or sandy material - debris flows - transported the continental pebbles and exotic blocks by gravity slides on the steep continental slopes. Thus, formed olistolith deposits had accumulated in the bathial zones. These strata complexes also represent characteristically the 'Bouma-series'. The olistolith formations we called Lueta (Lövéte) Beds. This with Velapertina-Globigerina associations are included in Upper Badenian or in Kossovian strata. Later on this area was intensively affected by the tectonic movements and was fragmentized, while the emerged relief was buried by postkossovian sediments. 406
