CA BUNA LUI SILINŢĂ SĂ NU FI FOST ÎN ZADAR... ” DOCUMENTE DEŢINUTE DE SERVICIUL JUDEŢEAN HARGHITA AL ARHIVELOR NAŢIONALE, REFERITOARE LA SEMINARUL „SFÂNTUL ARHANGHEL MIHAIL” DE LA ŞUMULEU-CIUC Rezumat începând din 1727, când a fost întemeiat din grija parohului Mihály Lukács Seminarul de la Şumuleu-Ciuc (Csíksomlyó), sau „casa pentru instruirea băieţilor", cum se mai numea în limbajul epocii, a fost un aşezământ asociat al gimnaziului franciscan, astfel istoricul seminarului este imposibil de realizat fără tratarea evoluţiei învăţământului gimnazial franciscan. Din acest motiv, în prima parte a studiului introductiv, am încercat schiţarea istoricului celor două instituţii, de la începuturile lor (1592, respectiv 1727) până în 1848, când, din cauza evenimentelor revoluţionare, învăţământul a fost suspendat, iar clădirea şcolii şi a seminarului a fost sechestrată, mai întâi de armata revoluţionară, apoi de cea imperială. în toamna anului 1851, cele două instituţii şi-au reînceput activitatea, însă sub conducerea unor clerici seculari, încetând astfel a mai fi aşezăminte franciscane. A doua parte a studiului introductiv este o trecere în revistă a fundaţiilor înfiinţate de către clerici sau notabilităţi lumeşti în perioada 1725-1849, în vederea susţinerii elevilor nevoiaşi. în a doua parte a comunicării, spicuiesc din izvoare încă needitate cereri pentru acordarea unor burse, corespondenţă oficială, interogări de martori, plângeri, rapoarte, care dincolo de importanţa lor informaţională, sunt şi valoroase monumente de limbă maghiară. THATHIS GOOD ENDEAVOUR WOULD NOT BE IN VAIN... ” DOCUMENTS HANDLED BY THE ARCHIVES OF HARGHITA COUNTY REGARDING THE SEMINAR OF THE FRANCISCAN GRAMMAR-SCHOOL OF ŞUMULEU-CIUC NAMED AFTER SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL Abstract The seminar of the Franciscan grammar-school of Şumuleu-Ciuc (Csíksomlyó), or boarding school for boys, as it appeared in the old usage, was the joint institution of the grammar-school starting from its foundation in 1727, so its history is linked up with the secondary education in Şumuleu-Ciuc. Thus, in the first part of the introductory study I present the history of the grammar-school and the seminar from their beginning (1592 and 1727, respectively) until the 1848 revolution, when education was interrupted and the buildings of the two institutions were seized first by the revolutionary, later by the imperial army. Though education was restarted in the grammar-school in the autumn of 1851 and the seminar also started to function, but with the guidance of secular priests, so the history of the following period does not constitute the topic of the present research. The second part of the introductory study briefly reviews those study funds and school trusts that were founded in the period between 1725-1849 either by ecclesiastical persons or by secular notabilities in order to support the boarding of needy students. In the second part of the study I select from unpublished sources, especially scholarship applications, official correspondence, witness hearings, complaint-petitions, reports, documents that not only provide useful information about the history of the seminar, but constitute precious historic language texts, too. 182
