Kós Károly Abstract: [Protection of the agrarian environment in Harghita county] In this study the author examines the existent possibilities for the period following the join of Romania to the EU, for the harmonisation of the principles and the practices of administration and environmental protection. These represent the base of the rural development, with the aim of the elaboration of an integrated strategy that supports a sustainable development in Harghita County, a mountainous region with extraordinary natural values. There are presented the most important means and policies in the field of the environmental protection and of the rural development, respectively how it is tried to integrate both domains by means of the programs of agrarian environmental protection. Having reviewed the current problems, the author gives ideas and concrete suggestions for their solution. Rezumat: [Protectia mediului agrar în judetul Harghita] In acest studiu autorul examineazä posibilhätile existente în perioada de dupä aderarea Romániai la UE pentru armonizarea principiilor si parcticii de gospodärire si a protectiei mediului care reprezintä baza dezvoltärii rurale, în vedera elaborärii unei strategii integrate care sä sustinä o dezvoltare durabilä în judetul harghita, regiune montanä cu valori naturale deosebite. Sunt prezentate cele mai importante mijloace si politici ale Uniunii Europene în domeniul protectiei naturii si a dezvoltärii rurale, respectiv cum se încearca integrarea celor douä domenii cu ajutorul programelor de protectie a mediului agrar. Dupä trecerea în revistä a problemelor actuale sunt prezentate idei §i propuneri concrete pentru solutionarea acestora. Bevezető A vidéki térségek területhasználatában jelentős változások álltak be az elmúlt évtizedekben nemcsak a Székelyföldön, vagy Romániában, hanem az egész Közép-Kelet Európai térségben. Ezek a változások a politikai rendszer mezőgazdasági elképzeléseinek a gyakorlatba ültetéséhez kapcsolódtak, tükrözték a központosított hatalom realitástól elszakadt világlátását és gigantomániáját. A legfontosabb szempont a mennyiség volt, a mezőgazdasági termelés dinamikus és állandó növelése.
