Foreword
WELCOME, DEAR READER! After the first publication from 2004, we are pleased to hand over the two volumes of the second publication of Ciuc Szekler Museum's Yearbook. Our hopes from the beginning seem to be fulfilled: we succeeded in Publishing the yearbook regularly every year, in developing it into a serial publication. Our basic requirement is the équivalent value level of the publications, or, of course, they may raise to a higher level. The yearbook of 2004 had - like every beginning - some shortcomings both formai and contentual. But the favourable reception together with the benevolent remarks made us step forward. Our natural aim for the second publication was to grow up to a higher standard. We arranged the manuscripts into thematic structures, aspired to richer content and kept the exacting exécution: the Reader should decide how much we succeeded in reaching our aims. It is clear for us as well that thèse two volumes could have been richer in content. We also miss the ethnographical publications in the yearbook. A high number of authors requested by the publisher readily agreed with putting their study at our disposai and we would like to thank them in this way. The only spécification was that the subject of the studies should be connected with Ciuc / Csík region, with the Szeklers or enlarging the circle: with Transylvania. Because of the différent ways of présentation of the various fields of research (références, literature, notes, suppléments etc.) we continuously see the publication of the studies in the two volumes, sociologie and natural science, justified. What is more, we wanted to assure the two volumes, through mutual compromises, a common aspect. We will be satisfied if the Reader appréciâtes the valuable studies, the carefully written text and the exacting printing. Of course, we would like to rise above our accomplishment in 2006, and in this way we continuously count on the help of the présent two volumes' authors and on new collaborators in the future.
