Ratio educations a testnevelés felvilágosodáskori úttörői magyarországon

Hungarian medical, physical educational special literature, and its value is even increased that it was consistently written in Hungarian - in spite of the lack of specific language - at an age, when Austrian government forbid the use of the national language with administrative means. Samuel Tessedik, a vicar-teacher from Szarvas, representative of philanthropist pedagogical trend, saw the chances of the rise of poor village peasant people in theoretical and practical introducing of modern educational principles. His experimental institute in Szarvas, where he wanted to put his principles into practice served this aim, too. He was devoting all his efforts to create a village public school, considering Comenius to be his ideal. In physical education he followed the principles of the philanthropists, Johann Christoph Cuts-Muths and Christian Cotthilf Salzmann. He paid a visit to their famous institute in Schnepfental. Hygienics formed part of his syllabus already from the junior classes and he attached didactic importance to regular outdoor game activities, as part of indoor mental training (work exercises necessary for later jobs was among the principles of philanthropists).
