ing was under the control of the gymnastic clubs and the traditional plays were sup­ported mostly by the afhlets, the state intervention played extremely important role in the dissemination of the games at the secondary schools. Without that the move­ment could not reach such great success. In conclusion we can state that by the turn of the century the outdoor sports and plays gain place at the Hungarian secondary schools. By the end of the 1910ies the plays among them some traditional folk games became the integral part of the the so called "Hungarian physical education system". We have to add at the same time that these Hungarian plays could not compete with the day by day more fashionable Western plays (for example football) so they have almost disappeared from the todays physical education practice.
