MŰHELY - Hajdók Judit: Történeti orgonáink restaurálási problémáiról
restoration, to make possible its further use. According to the experts' viewpoint the cantor should be guided by the organ as it had happenned in the past; so the present use should be subordinated by the principles of monument protection. It should be asked however, are the experts prepared to organ restorations; is necessary research work done, is there any documentation of the work? These seemingly evident questions are not yet natural in the practice of organ restorations. In Hungary there are almost thousand historical organs, all hand-built. The consultations of art historians, experts of monument protection, architects, restorers, organbuilders are necessary to prepare a list of monuments. Their task would be to support, inspire those who are ready to finish restoration work, who are not yet really involved financially in this.
