KIÁLLÍTÁS - Lővei Pál: Id. Storno Ferenc emlékkiállítása Sopronban

the reconstruction of St. Michael's church were followed by documentations of smaller edifices, and the St. Jacob chapel's drawing made between 1854-86. The plans for the St. John church almost unknow for the public waiting for detailed architectural research were also shown. The model of a neogothic pulpit carved of stone, a series of liturgical objects planned by Storno and three pendentives made of plaster from 1869 stopped the „monotony" of plans successfully. That total refusal of the impressive works of Ferenc Storno the elder and the second half of the 19th century monument protection by mid 20th century experts is forgotten by now. The original of the reconstructions most naturally are missed by our architectural and art history. Baroque altars are not replaced by neogothic ones in their place. The period of purism in monument protection, historicism was however the same historical-artistic age as the earlier ones. That careful preparation often lasting for decades which characterizes the exhibited plans of Ferenc Storno the elder must be appreciated however and studied in the future.
