SUMMARIES Ibolya PLANK-CSENGEL: About the József Biró exhibition The exhibition arranged in the hall of OMF during March-April 1991 undertook to present a full picture of the life-work of the art historian József Biró (1907-1945). Not only the major works of the Transylvanian scientist, like his books on The Art in Transylvania or The Castles of Transylvania, were on display: the interested visitor could also get acquainted with Biro's minor studies, paintings and drawings, photographs taken by him, and some documents on him. The author underlines the importance of the photographs that illustrated the exhibited printed works of Biro. Among them numerous outstanding shots of contemporary photographers were on display. Katalin GYÖRFFY-GRANASZTÓI : Castles in Normandy from the time of William the Conquerer to Richard the Lion-heart The exhibition opend on 3d May 1991 on loan from the Normandy Museum, Caen and was to be seen in the Hall of OMF in the first part of the summer. Originally it had been set up to conu 1 .emorate the 900th anniversary of the death of William the Conquerer in 1987. Different types of castles and fortified houses of the nobility, dating from the 11th and the 12th centuries could be seen at the exhibition. Each edifice exhibited here, wheter still standing or reconstructed on the basis of archeological data, is characteristic and shown in its development. Their descriptions were illustrated by plans, photographs and models. Tamás MIHALIK: Baroque Churches in Hungary - art and architecture The photographs of 18th century churches exhibited here were taken and selected by the photographer of the Intendance of Historical Monuments and will be exposed between 5 August and 15 October 1991. Róbert HACK: Contemporary churches in Hungary - as the photographer sees them The exhibition to open in August 1991 and to be open till 15 October will display some 30 to 40 photo­graphs. The choice samples the churches built in recent years. The undertaking claims the interest of the public as well as that of the specialists since these buildings are hardly known, although they once might be on our lists of protected monuments.
