Well I think that in the practice of the 21st century, monument protection and urban studies shall have to merge and become a single discipline. And our late descendants of the 22nd century will, perhaps, see societies reach a cultural degree allowing them to make sound decisions about their architectural heritage and their towns, which would imply that the duties of conservationists and urban scientists will be limited to the professional preparation of the decisions made by the society. But we still have to go a long way until then.
