Az ünnepélyes megnyitó köszöntői/ Festal Welcome Words - KALMÁR Péter
the word. Opening towards our neighbours, then towards the West. Opening towards Europe, towards the international trends in monument conservation. This at the time called for considerable courage. I am convinced the professional and friendly exchanges between lecturers and participants at the EgerNoszvaj Summer University, not to mention anything else, have been a significant contribution to the international integration and broad recognition of our country's conservation activities as well as to our achievements on the national level. Openness deserves to be addressed in another respect as well. The technique of having a different subject, a well-defined specific topic discussed each year during the course allowed us to highlight the interdisciplinary nature of our profession, to be exceptionally up-to-date and in line with the developments. The Eger Summer University is a workshop, an international one. To me, this is the key to the sustained interest shown. This is why the Summer University is Europe-famous, and why it receives professional support and EU grants, for which I am very grateful. So far as I am concerned, the Summer University has been a reference at the current stage of my career and a maker of my destiny. But that is private matter, a matter of eternal love. Ladies and Gentlemen, I hereby open the 28th course of the Eger Summer University on Monument Protection, in the hope that my words shall be proven right for you too this year. I wish you a pleasant time and every success in enriching yourselves at Noszvaj.
