and professional programme is born in the spirit of this. The Works and days seasonal exhibition, which can be visited from 15 October 2004 to 28 February 2005, came into existence in terms of this idea. Its objective is to help the primary schools with the teaching of patriotic and folk studies through displaying those peasant toys that were made to instill the children into work. The title of the exhibition refers to the ancient poet Hesiod's poem called Works and Days, in which that idea is expressed, which was one of the key values for the peasants in Hungary: no day may pass without some useful work. To support their lives, hard work was needed from dawn till dusk, in which the children had to join according to their age and strength. It was a primary educational idea of the peasant society to make children become independent as soon as possible and as much as possible, to make them join in the work, not only to help their parents but to secure their future, as well, because this way they could become good farmers and goodwives, who could strike out for themselves and could always make do if they had to. Our exhibition tries to bring the complexity and colourfulness of peasant life closer to children in a way that it shows its objectual world in little and in large, comparing the children's toys to the adults' tools. Besides the muséologie solutions, the second main pillar and very important parts of the exhibition are the special glass-cabinets, the touchable copies of the original objects, the challenging exercises, which help to develop the children's creativity, to enjoy the interactive museum visits and to learn while playing and also the parts of the exhibition, which can be touched, smelled and sensed by the blind and the partially sighted. We aimed to affect all of our visitors' senses. We put great emphasis on connecting the exhibition with museum classes during the time it is open to the public. Our visiting groups can get acquainted with some parts of the traditional culture of the Hungarian people with the help of folk tales, folk songs, folk dances, proverbs, archive ethnographical films and old objects with the assistance of museum teachers.
