educate and entertain'; reading as 'a pleasant, useful and - then! - cheap' pastime. Beside theatres, museums visiting the famous sights of Budapest, vacations in holiday resorts (Visegrád, Balaton, Siófok, Mátraháza, Galyatető) organized by the trade union meant useful spending of time. The later edition (1985) and 'Save up your money' (1985) offers new possibilities: tours in Hungary and abroad (Bulgarian seaside, Leningrad, Italian seaside...) organized by the IBUSZ (the only travel agency for a long time). 'Foreign relatives have arrived to you, you take part in a tour to Hortobágy organized by the IBUSZ' - how many things can be learnt from this sentence about the Hungary in the second half of the 70-es! The restaurant as the scene of entertainment and social life is an extreme that must be refused in the first 'Pursue an intelligent policy!': 'You entered a pub, so you have to pay 400 forints. This is lightmindedness, only drunkards have their first way to pubs.' Behavior culture is limited to learning traffic rules, they are reinforced by rewarding and condemning. 'You crossed the road by red light, you have to pay 10 forints.' 'You have learnt that children under 12 must not cycle on main roads, and children under 10 can be carried only by a person over 18 and only on a partner seat. You get a reward of 500 forints from the banker.' 'What is the secret of this long lasting popularity of the Pursue an intelligent policy? Will it disappear the same way as the social-economical form that it modelled?' I asked 14 years ago. Now it seems it will not disappear, it adjust itself to the changing economical and social environment, and during the last ten years newer and newer editions have appeared that are worth comparing and analysing.
