The paper presents the events which took place in Érd, the actors and leaders. Author draws on archive sources (data from minutes of criminal lawsuits) as well as remembrances of the eye-witnesses still alive. We celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the 1956 Revolution and fight for freedom this year. Although the events in Érd were not milestones I personally believe in the importance of remembrance. Many of the local people went to Budapest and took part in the fights there. In Érd there were two victims: Simon Bojó and Sándor Firtelmeister. We owe the National Guard - and especially its two leaders, Tibor Riedlinger and József Bifkovics - gratitude for not letting more serious events happen in Érd. With the leadership of Nándor Gévai the National Committee was established and together with the National Guard organised city life. A separate committee was set up in Érdliget under the leadership of György Könyves and later István Dzobai. They were responsible for peace keeping and controlling cars and vehicles crossing the town. Owing to the local leaders of the revolution bloody events kept away from Érd and after the freedom fight ended the revenge charged only upon them. God bless the people who believed in justice and fought for it — we are grateful.
