Summary Recent data to the knowledge of the vertebrate fauna (Amphibia, Reptilia, Mammalia) of the Bakony Mountains and its outlying areas I. (1980-1995) - The Bakony Museum of Natural Sciences started its research programme „The Natural Landscape of the Bakony Mountains" in 1962 aiming the discovery of natural values of the Bakony Mountains. In 1973 István Szabó Bakony-researcher gave a short overview of the period had passed since then, and pointed at the gaps at the same time. From 1973 till today - partly on the basis of the published scientific publications and studies - our knowledge in relation to the vertebrate fauna of the Bakony - especially regarding the herpeto- and ornithofauna - has widened.
