The definable small animals represented 14 species counting the Apodemus species-group, the Mus musculus and the Mus spicilegus each a species. One of the curiosities of the fauna is the avoidance of the mountain-water shrew (Neomys anomalus). From the area of the Bakony considered in a wider sense we know only few of its home. The reason behind it, however, may be the deficiencies of the fauna's research as well. The fact that - as a result of cast researches - they were found in more and more places of the country also underlines this statement. The different kinds of vole can be found in the barn owl's nutrient at a 10% higher rate in the now examined area than in the Transdanubian results. At the same time the amount of the shrews and mice is smaller. The data we know at the moment is not sufficient to decide whether this phenomena reflects the real amount of the small mammals' population or not. No specimens of the Sicista subtilis, the Microtus agrestis and the Microtus oeconomus were found in the material. Their occurance in the area is practically impossible. With the help of systematic gathering and processing of cast in the future it would become more efficient to map the still existing white spots in the Bakony hills from the point-of-view of the small mammals' research.
