INVESTIGATIONS ON THE YOUNG HOLOCENE SEDIMENTARY INFILLING OF RIGÓ ROCK-SHELTER NEAR BODAJK The Rigó rock-shelter opens at the right side of the Gaja-gorge near Bodajk /Transdanubien Central Mountains, Eastern-Bakony/ in a 6-7 ms relative altitude 160 ms high above sea-level. During an excavation made in 1976 nine layers were distinguished to the bottom of the small rock-shelter originally infilled almost completely. These layers represent two seidmental cycles. Below there was a 95 cms thick /6-9 smasples/ reddish brown clay sith rock-debris connected with rock-debris by an erosion surface. The results of the sedimentological investigations made on the samples as well as their plant seed, malacological and vertebrate remains are represented by the tables and frequency distribution graphs. On the basis of its vertebratefauna of modern character as well as of the distortion of this fauna resultad by cultural effects the sedimentary filling up of the Rigó rock-shelter can be dated by the beginning of our era. Within the vertebrate biostratigraphical system it means the and of the Kőhát phase and the beginning of the Alfold-phase /the end of the subboreal, Subatlantic/. With the aid of organic remains environ mental conditions can be characterized by highly diversified biotopes. At the beginning the vicinity of the rock-shelter was an area rather covered by vegetation later, however, species demanding open areas appeared more and more frequently. The value of average July temperature calculated with the aid of "vole-thermometer method" for the period of the deposition of the different samples can be reconstructed as follows: sample 12 3 4 5 6-7 8-9 °C 19,7 19,5 19,0 19,3 19,1 17,3 17,5 The values got with this method show a very good agrrement with the temperature values and tendencies gained from the same period in the Nagyoldal-shaft excavated in the Aggtelek Karst /North-Eastern Hungary/.
