DATA TO THE HISTORY OF THE WAR HINTERLAND - SOMOGY 1941-1945SÁNDOR BŐSZE Résumé In the last few decades numerous studies have been published on, partly or entirely, the history of the county in the period of the Second World War. A great number of these publications have undoubtedly become outworn and out-of-date in their approach to the topic and in their way of showing interrelations. Nonetheless, the authors of these works by making it possible to, in a way, synthesize our knowledge too - have disclosed a large number of very useful data to the readers. Resulting from what has been mentioned above, the author considered it necessary- to restudy the documents which had already been used by the researchers and to explore the still undisclosed documents of the archives in order to supplement, evaluate and modify the knowledge we have now. With the help of the previous knowledge and some sources of the archives only now does the author have the opportunity to study the process in which the hinterland was gradually approached through various ..transmissions" and then reached with its reality by the war which seemed to have been raging so far away. In this study the author intends to explore an important section of the history of Somogy county in the Second World War from the drafting of men, through the shortages of labor force, raw material and public supply, through the social problems and the issues of refugees and prisoners of war, the deportations and the appearance of bombers in the skyline, right to the total destruction of actual front fights. Having made good use of the abundant archivalia, the author intended to take a step further to introduction of the history of the county in the Second World War which is more tinged than the ones presented by the previous studies.
