Resume

The scarce special literature has not been able to trace the dates of the ethnic settlements, and their further migration in their new country and their economic efforts Therefore this study has made an attempt to fiái up this gap. Taking into consideration that the archives do not keep sources that exclusively refer to the ethnic groups in this period, we attempted to sketch their history through analysing fiscal papers which contain mass data. Most of all, we analysed sources in which the settlements are in family units. These are called domesticas, which recorded every existing settlement by families. In the villages the change in the families and households was also registered on account of determinig the tax. In this way even the smallest migrational phenomena were kept track of in the settlements. Through the analysis of the ethnic records of the ,.modern geographical descriptions" and the material found in various „lexikons" (geographical, postal etc.,) which were made at the very end of the i8th century and in the first decade of the 19th century we were able to introduce the whole network of ethnic settlements in the comitat. Although not precisely, but the main tendencies of the situation of ethnic settlements in Somogy can be well drawn by the introduction of the ethnic and religious statistics made in the years of the civil revolution and the „lexikonjuké works and censuses from the middle of the century. From the facts we have discovered, we can draw the conclusion that the non-Hungarian ethnic groups of the comitat grew in number and their economy and the condition of their settlements became stronger, and they successfully resisted the slightly appearing natural and forceful Magyarization.
