Kerny Teréz Huszka falképkutatásait és falkép feltáró tevékenységét mutatja be különös tekintettel a kerlési ütközet bemutatására. A harmadik részben olvashatunk arról, miként fordult Huszka Józsefnek az érdeklődése a régi magyar hímzések, díszítőelemek felé. Sinkó Katalin tanulmányában bemutatja a mintaalbumban összegyűjtött rajzait és kutatásait, az ornamentikái mintalapok keletkezését és az „előképmozgalom” alakulását 1850 és 1900 között. A negyedik részben kerül szó Huszka a „Magyar népies és reneszánsz díszítményeink” című munkájáról, a székelyföldi terepbejárásairól, az ottani gyűjtőmunkáról, a magyar ornamentika című albumához köthető gyűjtőútjáról. Az ötödik részben Fejős Zoltán tanulmányai foglalkoznak Huszka József néprajzi kutatásaival, a néprajzi gyűjtemények keletkezésének körülményeivel, a néprajzi műgyűjtés kezdeteivel. Az utolsó fejezetben olvashatunk arról, miként hatott Huszka József a hazai művésziparra, mely irányba indult el a hazai műipar, valamint megismerhetjük a „Historizmus és a magyar ornamentika" címmel a századfordulón zajló diskurzust, mely a magyar nemzeti stílus kialakításának kétféle útjáról szólt. A 3-day Design Master Class titled "Design as Interpretation" for design professionals 23-25 January 2007 In January 2007, the Department of Museum Studies at the University of Leicester will host a Design Master Class by Architect and Exhibit Designer Lee H. Skolnick, FALA, Founding Principal of Lee H. Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership in New York. The class will offer a forum for the sharing of ideas and will bring together leaders in the field for a series of lectures and group discussions around the topic of "Design as Interpretation". Key contributors include Peter Higgins of Land Design Studio, London and Stephen Greenberg of Metaphor, London. The focus of the 3-day Master Class will be a design 'charette' wherein participants work directly with Lee in groups on exhibit 'interventions' which explore the potential for interpreting content and concepts through design, using locations within the University campus as project ‘sites'. Issues of audience definition, conceptual framework, narrative, procession and circulation, design vocabulary, materiality, interactivity, graphics, lighting, and media will be examined in relation to their potential to contribute to the creation of truly interpretive visitor experiences. The class is intended for museum designers, educators and other museum professionals actively involved in exhibition development. The class aims to generate a high level of discussion and debate. For these reasons participant numbers will be restricted. Masterclass fees: £225.00 (this price includes tea/cojfee and lunches on all three days. It also includes a pre-masterclass reception at the museum and dinner at the Belmont Hotel the night before, and includes one other evening event at a South Leicestershire restaurant - transport provided) The British Council and the Foundation for Museums and Visitors is offering a bursary for the Master Class (covering the registration fee, hotel and travel costs) on the basis of the following criteria: • The applicant has a high level of English and minimum of two years of experience in exhibition design • The applicant signs an agreement in which he/she undertakes to share the results of the Master Class in a one-day workshop organized by the Foundation as well as in an article for the Múzeumi Hírlevél or Magyar Múzeumok or Múzeumi Közlemények mentioning the two supporting organizations. • In case of cancellation of travel (excluding vis major cases), the applicant reimburses the course fee.
