Plank, Mr Pál Ritoók, Ms Virág Hajdú More information: www.koh.hu FOCUS László Mednyánszky (1852-1919) Memorial Exhibition Hungarian National Gallery 14 October 2003 - 10 February 2004 A joint temporary exhibition was or­ganised with the participation of the National Gallery of Bratislava (Slova­kia) and the Hungarian National Gal­lery. That is the first occasion, when more than 600 pictures can be seen from Mednyánszky’s ouvre served in the collections of the Hungarian Na­tional Gallery and the Slovak Natio­nal Gallery as well. After Budapest the wandering exhibition will be opened in Bratislava (April 2004) and in Vienna, in Belvedere Palace in au­tumn of 2004. Curators: Ms Zsuzsanna Bakó, Ms Csil­la Markója, Ms Orsolya Hessky and Ms Katarina Beniiova. NEW TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS BUDAPEST Dining at the Andrássys' Table Hungarian National Museum October 2003 - January 2004 An exhibition can be visited from the collection of the Slovak National Mu­seum's Betlér Museum in Budapest. At the beginning of the 18th century the alchemist Johann Friedrich Bött­­ger discovered the secret of making porcelain. Apart from the attractive porcelain and chineware, the silver and pewterware, on display are both the high level of craftmenship and the taste of the owners. On display are more objects which belonged to Andrássy family, who despite being of Transylvanian stock lived in Gö­­mör county in Betlar, today Slovakia (Betlér). The tableware played impor­tant role in the life of the aristocracy during the time of hunts or other important family feasts. Sándor Molnár: Christal Pictures Ernst Museum 2-16 November 2003 It can be visited between 11 a.m. - 19 p.m., closed on Monday. GÖDÖLLŐ 4th Jamboree entitled to the Magical Deer (1933) City Museum 3 October 2003 - 22 February 2004 The 4th Jamboree, organised by Mr Baden Powell in 1933, had an impor­tant role in the life of the one-time citizens of Gödöllő. This temporary exhibition tries to commemorate on this evening collecting many relics of private properties. SZEGED Pro Patria et Libertate Rákóczi's memorial exhibition Móra Ferenc Museum - Fekete ház 30 September 2003 - 29 February 2004 After Budapest, on the 300th anni­versary of Rákóczi’s revolution, more exhibitions were opened in the coun­tryside. One of them can be visited in Szeged, or in Sárospatak, where the permanent exhibition was organised in the Rákóczi Museum from the rel­ics of Rákóczi’s family. NEW PERMANENT EXHIBITION German and Austrian Paintings from the Medieval Time up to Classicism Museum of Fine Arts Budapest The reorganised exhibition of the re­novated part in the Museum of Fine Arts - the Collection of Old Paintings - was opened with a new concept, fo­cused on the forgotten German and Austrian masters, among others Lucas Cranach, Albrecht Dürer, Altdorfer, Maul­­bertsch, Kupetzky, Hans Baidung Grim, Angelika Kaufmann, Friedrich Heinrich Füger. Curators: Ms Ilona Balogh, Ms Eszter Fábry, Ms Annamária Gosztola MUSEUMSAND COLLECTIONS The Day of Iron - Tricks of Ironing - Amber of Old Fires 16 October 2003 - 10 March 2004 The joint exhibition of the Textile Museum Óbuda and the Ganz Melt­ing Museum can be visited at the same time in two places. On display are old and modern irons with the documents of an old technology and housework. Partner museums: Hun­garian National Museum, Óbuda City Museum, Palóc Museum, Déri Mu­seum, Herman Ottó Museum, Jász Museum, Széchényi National Library and Ferenc Dóczi, private collector.
