m Ж\зzEUMi Hírlevél m Review Cover picture: Beaker from the Miklós Jankovich (1773-1846) collection Temporary exhibition in the Hungarian National Gallery It can be visited until 16 February 2003 FOCUS An interview can be read with the curators of the Miklós Jankovich's exhibition organised in the Buda Castle in the Hungarian National Gallery. Miklós Jankovich was the most important Hungarian art collector, who accumulated an incredible amount of art, including sculptures, paintings, Gothic altars, books and archives in his houses in Pest. He got his collection partly in Hungary, partly abroad. His repositories form the major part of Hungarian public collections until today. His first collection completely and his second collection partially got into the Hungarian National Museum between 1836 and 1852. The curators Mr. Árpád Mikó (Hungarian National Gallery), Ms Ibolya Gerelyes, Ms Erika Kiss (Hungarian National Museum) summarise the aim of the exhibition. In this issue we publish a selection of the recently identifed rarities from the Jankovich collection. Curators:Mr. Ambrus Gönczi and Mr. Zoltán Winkelmayer, museologists of the Local History Museum. Artisans, Craftsmen Budapest-Ujlipótváros 2002 On display are Ms Aliona Frankl’s photos about the artisans and craftsmen living in the special district of Budapest. The Local History Museum of Angyalföld organised the exhibition in December of 2002. Lace of Hövej Textile History Museum Óbuda Open till 31 January 2003 A chamber exhibition can be seen from the gift of Ms írisz Ujj, museologist and the director of the Óbuda Local History Museum, inheritaded from his father. Bajcsavár/Weitschawar A Styrian Castle in Hungary from the 16th century Military History Museum Open till 31 January 2004 On display are the finds and documentation as a result of a new archaeological investigation. Weitschawar is not far from Nagykanizsa, in South-West of Hungary, it was built with the support of Styrians against the Turks in 1578. NEW PERMANENT EXHIBITIONS Vásárosnamény - Beregi Museum A renewed permanent exhibition was opened for the 90th birthday of the museumfounder Árpád Csiszár, protestant priest of Gergelyugornya, entitled Life in Bereg, beside the Tisza river. Budapest - Museum of Public Transport History of the Hungarian Highways after the Great War It can be visited from January 2003. The opening ceremony was held with the participation of Mr Antonis Grivas (Embassy of Cyprus), Mr Lajos Tombi, vice-mayor of the city council of Zalaegerszeg and Ms Viktória Acs (Tourist Agency for Cyprus).
