Curators: Márta Branczik, Zsuzsa Demeter Information: 368-7917, 430-1076 RESTORATION, CONSERVATION .Tripus' from Polgárdi 1878: while digging a hole for a plum tree, a silver hoard was found in Fejér county, near Polgárdi. The result of the one time restoration-conservation became a late-Roman silver tripus, and put in the Roman Collection of the Hungarian National Museum, as it was adequate to the analoguous pieces of the European museums. In the middle of 1970s - unfortunately for Hungary, we do not know exactly when - the world famous Seuso silver hoard appeared in Europe, and the Hungarian archaeologists and restorers recognised the same technology and craft in details on it, as it was well known from the tripus from Polgárdi. The story of Seuso hoard in the USA introduced a new interdisciplinary analysis and a new restoration of the 'tripus' from Polgárdi, which has to be finished in 2002. This article is written by the curators of the Hungarian National Museum (K. T. Bruder, Zsolt Mráv, Mihály Nagy and Endre Tóth) and they underline the connection between the Seuso hoard and the silver ‘tripus’ of Polgárdi. Beside the result of the comparative analysis of the restoration, it turned out that originally the object had to be ‘quadripus’ instead of the suggestions of the 19th century specialists. INTERNATIONAL CONNECTIONS A seminar organised by the Bayer Staatminsiterium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst Munich 17-28 June 2002 Participants of the seminar were the staff members of the National Museum of Prague, museologists from Bulgaria, from the Hungarian Jewish Museum and from the Hungarian National Museum. K. T. Bruder, restorer of the Hungarian National Museum summarised the experiences of this well organised seminar and project saying thanks to the colleagues in Munich, the Bayerische Staatskanzlei and the Ministry of Science, Research and Art in Bavaria.
