Rövid tartalmi összefoglaló angol nyelven

The Yearbook of the Communications Museum Foundation In previous yearbooks published by the Communications Museum Foundation established in 1990 by the three succeeding companies of the Flungarian Postal Service (Magyar Posta Zrt., Magyar Telekom Nyrt. and Antenna Hungária Zrt.) to operate the Postal Museum and the Stamp Museum, foreign partner museums were provided with an English version of the preface, full work plans, work plan reports and summaries of articles written by the staff. These reports gave account of economic indicators, current events, and research results relevant to the two museums with collections of national significance as well as to the 12 affiliate postal museums operating in the capital and in various parts of the country. In this current yearbook, contrary to our custom and with consideration for the worldwide economic crisis, which has affected not only Hungary, but our founder as well, we now endeavour to provide more concise reports on the events of 2008 and 2009 in this issue with a more modest appearance in an order indicated by our table of contents. László Egervári, Managing Director of the Communications Museum Foundation sets forth, following the introductions, to disclose the general and financial reports for 2008, the work plan approved by the board of trustees and the board of supervision for 2009, followed by the foundation’s general and financial report for 2009 and the work plan approved by the board of trustees and the board of supervision for 2010. The managing director also reports on the achievements and the difficulties faced by the two museums operated by the foundation as well as on the work done by the board of trustees and the supervisory board in these periods, (pp. 5-53) Ildikó Makkai-Várkonyi, Director of the Postal Museum, gives account of events and happenings during two years of the life of the museum in an article entitled História domus - Postamúzeum (Postal Museum), 2008 and História domus - Postamúzeum (Postal Museum), 2009. This serves as a short supplement to the Managing Director’s reports outside the boundaries of the report genre with details and some additional events. She provides a detailed account of the restoration work done in the permanent exhibitions of the mother museum and the affiliated museums, the organisation of seasonal exhibitions, the museological and collection management work as well as the results of conducted researches, (pp. 54-78) Alexandra Halász, museologist at the Stamp Museum also gives account of these two years of the museum’s life in her article entitled História domus - Bélyegmúzeum (Stamp Museum), 2008 and História domus - Bélyegmúzeum (Stamp Museum), 2009. She also provides insight into Hungarian stamp issuing since the museum is often home to the introduction ceremonies of new stamps issued by Magyar Posta Zrt. The museum also hosts numerous exhibitions relating to Hungarian and international jubilee events and conferences thanks to the rich subject matter of the stamps’ imagery, (pp. 79-98) Administrator Lászlóné Rázga and museologist László Jakab paired up to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Krisztina Telephone Exchange, the first automated switchboard in Hungary. The study discusses the imperative automation of telephone exchanges, the 200
