• We plan to establish a central warehouse to hold postal collections as well as to centralize a storage facility for our decentralized units in Sopron, Debrecen, Miskolc, and Pécs, with the assistance of our founders. • One cardinal task will be to collect telecom history artefacts as they are rendered obsolete and removed from service, such as the manual units of the Szikla Centre, and to transport them to storage facilities. • In addition to the above, it will be necessary to supervise labour safety, fire and property protection, and electrical safety in all of the foundation museums and exhibition sites. • We will have to choose the computer software with which to register our artefacts and to prepare to introduce our choice in the two museums (MuNYiR, Katalin or Lapoda). • We will have to maintain liaison with the systems operators (Sysops) to guarantee fault-free operation of the information technology system and necessary upgrades. • We will study opportunities to bid for funding, in particular for European Union funding. • In keeping with changes in the public’s cultural demands, we will upgrade our electronic visitor services through a new website in which we will offer virtual exhibitions. • We plan to repaint and conduct repairs and maintenance at our rural seasonal exhibition sites - Ópusztaszer, Hollókő and Nagyvázsony - before they open for the season, with the assistance of the operators, the bodies maintaining them, and the owners. • We plan to introduce cash registers at the four museums and exhibition sites with the heaviest traffic: the Postal Museum, the Stamp Museum, Nagyvázsony and Balatonszemes. Collections-related tasks • Receiving, inventorying, and placing the artefacts that the Postal Services declares depreciated and discards is an ongoing task for the Postal Museum. This year we expect the main focus in this area to be on the street and other public mail boxes being removed from service. • It will also be important to write up the record of the re-inventorying of our postal history collection conducted in 2007, as the final step to complete our revised inventory. • We can no longer postpone the restoration of the cariole (one-horse carriage), or the mosaic images on the step-in platform and six reliefs on the multi-horse carriage on display at Balatonszemes. We must also re-upholster the settee and armchairs that make up Gábor Baross’s legacy. • We plan to take the 4-6 work spaces that we have chosen to display from the telephone switchboard, the Szikla switchboard, being dismantled, and transport them to Miskolc and Rákospalota, where we will put them together again. • We plan to use duplicates of the street mail boxes being dismantled by the postal service and warehoused by it as exchange items with foreign museums, to thus expand our own artefact collections. • As far as the collections of documents are concerned, we will continue to research the legacies of the prominent historical figures in our professions, and if granted permission by their heirs, we will collect and display the documents and photographs, either as originals or scanned duplicates. 224
