Rövid tartalmi összefoglaló angol nyelven
With the start of mobile postal services and the overall modernisation of postal services, we have organised collecting and collection expeditions, and concluded archiving agreements with regional post offices. We have supervised the operations of telecom company Matáv’s archives committee, and have visited regional warehouses, and organised inventories. We have prepared submissions for competitions, presented them, and if approved, have organised precise implementation and accounting. Collection efforts We have begun the restoration of vehicles in danger of being lost (the mobile post office freight car at Balatonszemes) or requiring a great deal of restoration (Mercedes radio transmission car, supervisory transmission gauging vehicle), by applying for competitive grants. We have undertaken the protection of property stored in the open air by painting the various items. These items include signage, both of the descriptive and informative types. We have run spot checks of the materials in storage, of transport journals, and of item- by-item lists of objects that have been moved out of storage because they are on show at one venue or another. We have accelerated the inventory of our collection of documents and begun training the new manager of the map collection, and the official and unofficial document collection. We have begun computerising the collection in the Stamp Museum, focusing primarily on the Hungarian collection. We have prepared a feasibility and storage plan for expanding our collection of postal history. Scientific activity Preparing for the significant anniversaries of coming years, we have prepared a record of the official and unofficial documents that reflect the histories of the two museums. We have prepared a catalogue of the telephone history collection. We have prepared a scenario for setting up a new exhibit at Balatonszemes, based on a concept plan. We have prepared a concept and research plan for a series of new Stamp Museum exhibits to focus on European history and culture as reflected in stamp images. We have prepared the furnishings of the Jászárokszállás post office for display at the Szentendre Open Air Museum of Ethnography, starting in the spring We have prepared the data and scenario for an exhibition of the Csonka-designed postal vehicle set for 2005, marking the centenary of the date it went into use. We have prepared the studies for the Foundation’s 2003 yearbook and the publication of the exhibition catalogues prepared with grant support Exhibitions • We organised a permanent exhibition at the Jászárokszállás inn, and at the open-air museum of ethnography in Szentendre. • We organised a permanent exhibit at the postmaster’s house in Koszeg. 321
