Mrs Gergely Kovács Annual Report on the Activity of the Foundation of the Postal and Telecommunications Museums in 1995 The Foundation’s work The Foundation, in its sixth year, managed, by opening permanent exhibitions at the Diligence Room in Debrecen and the Radio and Television Museum in Diósd, to present and make widely known the materials and documents on the history of Hungarian telecommunications entrusted to its museums. Every branch and period of Hungarian telecommunications appears as a common heritage of the three founder companies in displays at the network of museums as it stood by the end of 1995: the Postal Museum, Stamp Museum, Telephone Museum, Radio and Television Museum, museums at Balatonszemes, Nagyvázsony, Ópusztaszer, Hollókő and Debrecen, and the railway post- office van at Paks. The results can be ascribed first to the calm and stable conditions provided by the founders, and secondly to the Foundation’s funding and management, which allows more flexible adjustment to current opportunities, the founders’ wishes, and the planned, yearly tasks of the museums, than a museum funding and management system could. This has established a resolute, purposeful practice in applied museum work, which has enhanced in value the activity of the qualified museum staff, and of liaison staff at the founder companies. The Foundation has been helped not only by the three public companies, but by several smaller organizations now hived off from them. Clearly privatization has not affected our work detrimentally. However, to forestall changes with ill effects on other public collections as well, we see a need to confirm de jure changes and established practices that have emerged in the last six years, i.e. prepare and register the Amendment to the Deed of Foundation, held over from 1995.
