inspected the Radio Museum under preparation at Diósd and visited Lakihegy. Urs Hobi, head of the Swiss Telephone-Card Collectors’ Association and publisher of TK Magazin and TK Katalog, was interested in the fast developing phone-card collection. In public relations, the now regular TV and radio interviews were joined by a press presentation of books on branch history. A Mother’s Day concert was held in the hall of the museum, to which mothers employed in the founder companies were invited. Unfortunately there were several sad events during the year, when we accompanied colleagues and members of their families to their final resting place, bidding them farewell personally and collectively, in the name of the museum. Mrs Piroska Farkas Krizsák: The Radio and Television Museum at Diósd The interior designs for this were presented in the 1993 Yearbook. After faults in the plans had been rectified, the Investment Department of Antenna Hungária PLC published an invitation to tender. Seven firms submitted tenders, and the offer from Bóra Ltd was accepted on June 22,1994. The chief executive of Bóra is Ede de Jonge and the technical head Mrs Gabriella Bánfalvi Kubalik. Supervision of the work was done by Gábor Lukács, Mrs Endre Fonó and József Söptei of Antenna Hungária. The full sum required for the project was not available in 1994, and the work has had to continue into 1995. The ground-floor foyer and cloakroom, the library and the first-floor corridor were completed during the year. A start was made on the podium. Éva Grünwald: Exhibition of Postal History at Tállya The museum mounted an exhibition of postal history at Tállya, for the Hegy alja Vintage Days in the autumn of 1994. The postal history of the village dates back to 1567, when it was a stage on the post road between Kassa (Kosice) and Szatmár (Satu Mare). The ruins still stand of the building that served as the post house from 1774 to 1944. The exhibition included some original documents and maps, along with evocative photographs and interior views. It was shown how people used to travel by diligence (a form of mail coach), the discomforts that passengers underwent, the appearance of a post house or posting inn, and the equipment a postmaster used. We recalled the great phylloxera epidemic of 1875, which almost completely destroyed the vineyards. The exhibition was opened on September 20, 1994 by József Pekó, Mayor of Tállya, and István Kurucz, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. The first tour was conducted by Dr Miklós Kamody, postal historian. The exhibition could be seen for more than two months-a week longer than planned. Dr Anna Farkas Tóth: The Postal Workers’ Conference in Debrecen The 14th National Postául Workers’ Conference took place at Debrecen University of Agricultural Sciences on'August 4-7,1994. Staff of the Postal Museum provided a small- scale exhibition presenting the postal history of Debrecen. 213
