Kiállítási emlékezések - Angol nyelvű összefoglalók

After a month’s preparations, the contest Tivadar Puskás and His Times was advertised in four categories: 1. the history of the period and profession, 2. the performing arts, 3. the development of professional equipment, and 4. art and design. Detailed invitations were sent to 32 schools, of which 18 applied to enter, and no less than 40 entries arrived by May 10 for the first round. The list of finalists was announced at the May Telecommunications celebration at Lakihegy on May 17. More complex tasks requiring more effort were set for the next round, so that entries in the four categories could be more easily compared. The final, with the personal participation of the competing students, was planned to coincide with World Postal Day on October 9, preceded by joint events on the previous two days (an excursion and a theatre performance). The final was duly held on Saturday, October 9 in the assembly hall of the Postal Workers’ Arts Centre in Budapest’s Benczúr utca. A jury of leading professionals was invited to judge the entries, so that the students would appreciate the respect given to their work. The teams in Categories 1,3 and 4 were heard in the morning, and after lunch together, the teams in Category 2 gave most enjoyable performances. The winning schools were 1. Sámuel Brassai Industrial Secondary School, Debrecen, 2. Tivadar Puskás Vocational Secondary School, Sepsiszentgyörgy (Sfintu Gheorghe, Romania), 3. Postal and Banking Vocational Secondary School, Budapest, and 4. Gábor Bethlen Grammar School and Postal Vocational Secondary School, Debrecen. Erzsébet Angyal: p. 49 The Stamp Museum’s Collection of Graphics The collection of graphics at the Stamp Museum contains working drawings and submitted sketches for Hungarian stamps. These are presented to the Museum continually by the Hungarian Post Office as new stamps are issued. Unfortunately the collection was not properly catalogued or stored before, nor were aids to identifying material for exhibitions and research, such as indexes of designers and themes, studies of iconographical sources, storage according to the techniques employed, etc. This work has now been started, and we plan to accomplish it in future in a way that will allow the data stored to be included in the projected computer system to cover all the museum collections. József Hajdú: p. 52 The Postal Museum’s Collection of Photographs The collection of photographs belonging to the Postal Museum is stored in Budapest, at No. 3, Andrássy út. It does not form a separate unit, being catalogued as part of the collection of pictorial materials, along with the paintings, prints, drawings etc. 138
