manifested in 1848.32 The Hungarian authorities refuse to Romanians the right to take part to the public life of their country, which reaches the highest expression in the diet of the country. In this situation, the Romanians request the abolition of the unjust laws and their illegal application, because these laws make the participation of the Romanians to the public life impossible.33 b) The Law for the equal rights of nationalities, although imperfect, could have encouraged the Romanians to contribute to the strength of the Hungarian state, if it had been applied with good faith. But all the efforts of the Romanians directed to the propagation of the culture among the masses and to the training of some qualified persons in the highest centers of education in the West, who have now diplomas for all branches of science, are useless if the Hungarian authorities avoid accepting Romanians (or other nationalities) in the public offices. In spite of their solid training, the Romanians withdraw from the public life of their country, because they don’t find justice either in the Court of Law, in the administration or in the other spheres of the public life.
