Eugene Csocsan de Váralja: The Just Income Distribution
THE JUST INCOME DISTRIBUTION 131 above stemming from the transcendental relationship between man and what he needs.68 According to Saint Thomas Aquinas the right of private property does not originate from the natural law, but from the ius gentium because the animals have no private property, and the law of private property can be only deduced from the nature of things by reason.69 In fact we ought to remember, that there was no private property in the first churches of the apostles and in the Jesuits' reductions in Paraguay between 1640 and 1768,70 as there is no private property within the religious orders to this day. * * * III. The social teaching of the Supreme Pontiffs accepting the principle of private property recognises, that “the distribution of the goods on earth, which has been heavily disturbed by the contrast of a few extremely rich and enormous masses of the propertyless have to be brought into harmony with the common good and social justice,71 (Quadragesimo anno), “...the more just distribution of the goods on earth” is a “legitimate demand”72 (Divini Redemptoris). In fact “the private property became a direct power to exploit the labour of others”73 (Christmas message of 1941). 68 69 70 71 72 73 Alexander HORVÁTH, O.
