There he defended his doctoral thesis in 1980, L’Ufficio del Primate nella Canonistica da Graziam ad Uguccione da Pisa. The importance and esteem of his academic achievements is shown by the fact that in the same year of his doctorate he was invited to teach at both the Pontificia Ateneo S. Anselmo and the Pontificia Universitä Gregoriana. He taught at the latter university continuously as a visiting professor until his nomination as Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest in 2002. Among his numerous works in Hungary, he is credited with the publication of the handbook on the current canon in 1991 (fifth revised edition: 2014; unchanged reprint: 2022) and the translation of the Codex iuris canonici into Hungarian with interpretative notes and bibliography in 1984 (fifth revised edition: 2015). His internationally recognized work as a canon lawyer is highlighted sufficiently by his book which summarizes the most important results of his scholarly work in Italian between 1995 and 2020: II Diritto Canonico tra salvezza e realtä sociale. Studi scelti in venticinque anni di docenza e pastorale (a cura di Bruno Espositio; Facoltá di Diritto Canonico San Pio X; Ius Canonicum - Monografie 24; Marcianum Press, Venezia 2021, pp. 784) and its prestigious international reactions. The international canon law and legal history scholarly community paid tribute to this more than forty years of wide-ranging and distinguished activity in the field of sacred sciences, on the occasion of the 70th birthday of Card. Peter Erdő. The structure of the festive volume is simple, i.e. it does not classify the studies of the contributing authors either thematically or in tenns of the specific fields of canon law. The principle of ordering is therefore based on the alphabetical order of the authors’ names. Consequently, here I intend to present only the most significant authors and the most relevant studies, with an essential distinction between the analysis of the works on the current canon law and the history of canon law. Naturally - before doing so - it is necessary to mention those five authors who are active teachers at the Institute of Canon Law at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University, i.e. Géza Kuminetz, György Lefkánits, Balázs Schanda, Péter Szabó, and Szabolcs Anzelm Szuromi, 0. Praem. Among the analyses of the current canon law, the work of Juan Ignacio Arrieta on process law should be mentioned first, not only for its location (the very first study), but also for its subject and importance. Therein, drawing on arguments presented at the level of serious comparison of sources, jurisprudence and legal theory, he sets the CIC Can. 1713 and Can. 1733 in parallel, 1. e. the principle of the avoidance of lawsuits, the desirability of a fair settlement of disputes arising from administrative decisions, the desirability of an agreement between the two parties: the author of the decision and the subject of the decision (I metodi alternativi di risoluzione delle controversie nell ’ordi-
