STUDIES - Astrid Kaptijn: Codex Canonum Ecclesiarum Orientalium - Important Questions

Folia Canonica 1 (1998) 177-179. «CODEX CANONUM ECCLESIARUM ORIENTALIUM - IMPORTANT QUESTIONS» Convention of the International Society for Canon Law and Comparison of Religious Legislations Institut Catholique de Paris, 30 mars - 2 avril 1998 Short Report The International Society for Canon Law and Comparison of Religious Legislations (Société Internationale de Droit Canonique et de Législations religiouses comparées, SIDC) which is registered in Paris, organises for its members a convention about every two years. Cardinal LUSTIGER, Archbishop of Paris and Ordinary for the eastern catholics in France, opened the Convention, that was attended mainly by Latin canonists, members of the Society, though several eastern ecclesiastical authorities honoured the Convention by their presence. After a short introduction by Mgr. Valdrini, Rector of the Institut Catholique de Paris and President of the SIDC, Mgr. Émile ElD, judge at the supreme tribunal of the Apostolic Signature, gave the inaugural lecture about the fundamental themes of «Rite, Church sui iuris, jurisdiction». His Excellency traced mainly the origins and the history of
