of Lepidoptera prevailed (Simic et al. , in press). Popovic et al. (1992) reported the presence of Odonata and Aranea in addition to Coleoptera in the diet of pool frog from the locality of Stari Begej. On the other hand, the egg dimensions of the species P. medians showed no significant differences. This was the only character under consideration which showed no changes and was almost uniform at all the localities studied. The stability of this character is undoubtedly of taxonomic significance and, therefore, should be regarded as the most relevant in the process of determination of this species. With regard to the species P. medians, however, it should be noted that, beside the significant differences established in the characters measured, only intraspecific variability can be spoken of.
