A new geographical record of Petasiger grandivesicularis 41 P megacanthum and P. grandivesicularis, since the original drawing clearly represents an adult of the latter species. It is important to note that despite the problems existing in the identification and synonymy of the Petasiger species possessing 19 collar spines, P. grandivesicularis is the only species with vitelline fields fusing both anteriorly and posteriorly to the ventral sucker (Kostadinova and Chipev 1992). Our data suggest that a further detailed re-examination of European materials assigned to the closely related species of this group would yield new data on the geographical range of P grandivesicularis and on the degree of its intraspecific variability. Detailed comparisons with the previous descriptions of P. grandivesicularis showed that the body dimensions of the Hungarian material (and in correlation with them the measurements of the suckers, pharynx, testes, ovary and cirrus sac) vary above the limits given by Ishii (1935), Chen Hsin Tao et al. (1985), Borgarenko (1984) and Fig. 1. Petasiger grandivesicularis from T. ruficollis. A: Head collar; B: Ventral wiev. Scale bars: A -100//m; B - 500 fim.
