RESULTS Metacestodes of taeniids found in Mongolia and Siberia belong to sensu stricto Taenia species. Both of them were Cysticercus, each bladder-worm was enclosed in separated capsules. The direction of larval movement is lung and liver passage, respectively. Taenia kotlani sp. n. *- metacestodes - from Mongolia Intermediate host: Capra ibexsibirica Pallas, 1776. Two male Siberian ibex aged three years (No. 4296 HNHM) and seven years (No. 4297 HNHM) were examined. Locality: Mongolia, South Gobi Aimak, Sevrej Mts, 2000 m a.s.l., 2 September, 1975, legit L. Sugár. Location of the Cysticercus: lung and abdominal cavity (the latter was lost). Intensity of Cysticercus infection: 5-15 specimens. Definitive host: unknown. Holotype: No. 4297Y. The cyst is 6 mm in diameter, the metacestode ranges 3 x 8 mm, the forebody is 2 mm in diameter, the scolex has 36 rostellar hooks. Paratypes: No. 4297X, 4297Z, and 4297W preparations and one Cysticercus is preserved in 10% formalin. Type specimens are deposited in the Parasitological Collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. Diagnosis: Five regular cysticerci were found under the fascia covering the surface of the lungs. Each of them was recovered from an individual cyst, which had a transparent window 4-9 mm in diameter overlooking the surface of the lungs. The diameter of the five roundish cysticerci is 5,6,7,10 and 14 mm, respectively. Pyriform metacestodes are located freely in the cysts. Size of the larvae is 3 x 8, 7 x 13, 6 x 17, 6 x 20 and 10 x 15 mm, respectively, their anterior part showing an invaginated scolex 2 mm in diameter. Large numbers of calcareous corpuscles are found in the parenchymatous tissue of the forebody. Translucent exudate fills the space of the bladder-worm. The scolex varies between 0.600 and 0.620 mm (n=4, mean 0.610) in diameter. The four suckers are 0.202 to 0.260 mm (n = 14, mean 0.248) in diameter. The rostellum is 0.340 to 0.420 mm (n=4, mean 0.365) wide and armed with 31-36 (n=4, mean 33) taeniid hooks in two circles. The large hooks are 0.187 to 0.218 mm long (n=36, mean 0.201), the handle length is 0.081 to 0.112 mm (mean 0.092), the guard length is 0.056 to 0.068 mm (mean 0.062), the basis length is 0.121 to 0.140 (mean 0.129). The small hooks are 0.118 to 0.143 mm long (n=36, mean 0.132), the handle length is 0.039 to 0.053 mm (mean 0.043), the basis length is 0.074 to 0.087 mm (mean 0.082), the guard length is 0.053 to 0.062 mm (mean 0.057). The ventral end of * The new species is dedicated to one of the greatest Hungarian parasitologists, Prof. Sándor KOTLÁN.
