been contributed by several siphonapterological studies done during occasional catches of dormice in the course of research of fleas of small mammals. Peus (1970, 1972) reported some data on fleas from Germany. The present study deals with the flea fauna of nests of three dormouse species, obtained mostly from bird nest boxes during the research of bird fleas. MATERIALS AND METHODS During the period 1974 through 1991, a total of 271 nests of three dormouse species were obtained (Tables 1, 2 and 3) from 34 localities of Slovakia (Fig.l). This figure also includes material from so-called combined nests, i.e. dormouse nests built on those of other hosts (birds). Except for 11 nests of Muscardinus avellanarius L., taken from bushes, all derive almost exclusively from bird nest boxes. Collections were made throughout the year regardless of the host's presence or absence.
