gland, the penetration glands, the nervous system, the excretory system and the germinal tissue: The life-span of miracidia kept in tap water at room temperature was 10-12 hours. Intermediate hosts: Planorbis planorbis Intramolluscan larval stages Sporocyst. The penetrated miracidia undergo noticeable changes: shedding of epidermal plates, loss of some internal structures and breaking down of embryo balls into separate germinal cells. Mature sporocysts are located in the body cavity of the snail, contain some fully developed rediae and numerous embryo balls. Redia. The first free rediae emerged on the 13—15th days after infection. The first mature rediae were observed on the 15th day after liberation and their measurements were 700-1100 by 200-250 p.m. In the inner structure a digestive system, a nervous system, an excretory system and a germinal tissue can be distinguished. Cercaria. The first free cercariae were recovered on the 30-37th days after infection, measuring 250-375 jum with a tail appendage of 100-125 fim in length. Mature cercariae are dark brown, quickly swimming organisms, with a body measuring 300-340 by 200-325 /urn and a tail 400-500 by 65-75 um. Larval stages can hibernate in the intermediate hosts under our climate. Adolescaria. Emerged cercariae encyst on the vegetation. Adolescariae measure 180-250 //m in diameter. Under low temperature (4-8°C) the life-span of adolescariae was two-three months. Development in definitive hosts. A seven-month-old roe deer was infected with adolescariae; the first eggs were found in the faeces on the 85th day after infection. Habitat: rumen. Hosts: Bos primigenius f. taurus, Ovis ammon f. aries, Cervus elaphus, Dama dama, Capreolus capreolus. Distribution: cattle - Erdősmecske, Hortobágy, Mozsgó, Pápa, Pécs, Sátoraljaúhely, Szeged, Szentes; sheep - Hortobágy, Szatymaz, Kám; red deer - Gemenc, Kaszópuszta; fallow deer - Tamási; roe deer - Derekegyház, Gemenc, Jászkisér, Kaszópuszta, Orgovány, Siklós, Sellye, Szentes.
