Dr. Murai Éva szerk.: Parasitologia Hungarica 23. (Budapest, 1990)

Legs: Tarsus and tibia of leg I fused, forming a syndetomeric article, without a transversal separating line. Claw normal, sessile, the modified subunguinal seta /s/ large. Solenidium o>j spindle-shaped, <Pj very long, with clavate head. Famulus /£/ characteristically lanceolate. The ratio of the setae of leg I as shown in Figs 5, 6. Claws of all other legs absent. Two setae of tarsus II strongly dilate, spiniform. Setal formulae of legs: I: 1-3-4-16 + 2-1 III: 1-2-2-4-5-0 II: 1-3-3-4+1-5-0 IV: 1-2-1-4-5-0 Material examined: Holotypus : Egypt, Shebin El-Kom, 19. VI. 1989, from sheep dung. Leg.: Dr. A. M. Zaki; 7 paratypes from the same sample. Holotype (1381-HT-90) and 2 paratypes (1381-PT-90) deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest, and 4 paratypes in the Faculty of Agriculture, Menoufia University, ShebinEl-Kom, Egypt, 1 paratype in the Museum d'Histoire Naturelle, Geneva. Remarks: The new species stands nearest to A. tribolii Newstead et Duvall, 1918, however, the new species is well distinguishable from it by the ratio of dorsal, the much longer epimeral setae and by the form of solenidium of leg I. In our estimation seven species belong to the genus Acarophenax Newstead et Duvall, 1918. They may be distinguished from one on other by the following key: 1 ( 8) Setae e and f nearly equal in lengthor setae f slightly longer than e. 2(3) Dorsal surface ornamented by longitudinal lines lacunatus Cross et Krantz, 1S*()4 3(2) Dorsal surface smboth. 4(5) Posterior margin of the opisthosomatal shields waved. Setae f slightly longer than e assanovi Livsitz et Mitrofanov, 1974 5(4) Posterior margin of opisthosomatal shields straight. Setae e and f equal in length, or setae f slightly longer. 6(7) Solenidium Ui blunt at tip. All setae on tarsus of leg II simple and thin nidicolus Cross et Krantz, 1964 7(6) Solenidium sharply pointed. Two setae on tarsus of leg II strongly thickened lukoschusi Mahunka et Fain, 1989
