Dr. Murai Éva szerk.: Parasitologia Hungarica 22. (Budapest, 1989)

The parasitocenological stage of the development of parasitology Is characterized by the more and more large-scale profound interaction of parasitological disciplines, by a steadily growing interest in interdisciplinary complex Investigations that result in more adequate knowledge of the essence of parasitism and in higher effectivity of the struggle with mixed parasitoses. A systematic development of specific methods of research, of special matters of methodology and conceptual system of parasitocenology favours a more precise determination of the object of cognition, the determination of the exact position of parasitocenology in the system of biological sciences. From all mentioned above one can conclude that the knowledge of phenomena and events of parasitism in their whole supercomplexity requires renewal of the theoretic basis and the system of parasitologic science, replacement of obsolete methodological guidelines, unification of conceptual and categorial systems and new méthodologie approaches to the scientific research. By developing these approaches and principles parasitologists will create a reliable theoretical basis for the study of mixed contagious diseases. A maximal benefit will be reached only when biological, physiological, biochemical and genetic characteristics of pathogenic organisms in natural conditions within a parasitic ecosystem are clarified. Only in this way will parasitologists be able to obtain a profound knowledge of events that characterize pathologic state and reactions of a patient and to develop new methods of struggle with mixed diseases. It is quite understandable that the outlined programme of research is calculated for a significant period. But we should be encouraged by the fact that as early as at the initial stage of its development parasitocenology reveals itself as extremely fruitful, and systematic intensification of scientific research in a single direction will constantly raise its effectiveness. This conclusion is already being confirmed by researches of Soviet parasitocenologists in the field of applied parasitocenology, especially by those dealing with mixed diseases of domestic animals. Especially wonderful are the methods of elimination of mixed diseases by means of restoring the normal microflora in a host and by altering the species composition of microparasitocenosis. Attempts are made to clarify possible ways of normalization of microparasitocenosis. An effective control of contagious diseases Is impossible without organic union of parasitological theory and practice, whithout constant theoretical generalization of the professional experience of specialists in medical and veterinary parasitocenology, and without practical testing of progressive theory.
