DESCRIPTION (based on specimens from jM^_sjibterr_aheusJ: Length of fully developed strobila 14.27-27. 12 (n=2), consisting of 66-78 (n=2) proglottides, 8-10 (n = 2) of which gravid. Maximum width at gravid proglottides - 1. 363-2. 638 (n=2). Scolex well-outlined, 0.294-0.406 (n=5) wide. Suckers with well-developed musculature, round or slightly oval, with a diamètre of 0. 113-0. 162 (n=12). Neck distinct, with minimal width 0. 175-0. 256 (n=5). Differentiation of proglottides beginning at 0. 169-0. 306 (n=5) from posterior margin of suckers. Proglottides craspedote, wider than long. Ratio length/width in mature proglottides 1:4.2-4.8, in postmature proglottides - 1:4.1-5.1, in gravid ones - 1:2.2-2.7. Genital atria about middle of lateral margin of proglottides; unilateral. The primordium of the genital organs seen in 8-llth proglottis (n = 5). Ventral excretory canals 0. 015 wide, with anastomoses. Dorsal excretory canals 0.010 wide. Genital ducts dorsally to excretory canals. Cirrus sac reaching and in single cases crossing excretory canals; its dimensions 0. 100 0. 157x0.045-0.062 (n=7) in mature proglottides and 0. 147-0. 248x0. 055-0. 100 (n = 33) in postmature ones. Cirrus armed, 0. 015-0. 022 wide. (n=5) and 0. 105 (n=l)long when fully evaginated. Internal seminal vesicle 0.040-0.063x0.033-0.040 (n = 5) in mature proglottides and 0. 052-0. 135 X 0. 052-0. 093 (n= 18) in postmature ones. External seminal vesicle in mature and postmature proglottides 0. 050-0.067x0. 023-0.02 5 (n=4) and 0.073-0. 165x0.0380.088 (n=12), respectively. Testes 32-43 (n=25); situated aporally to female genitalia and some of them overlapping dorsally aporal lobes of ovary; in aporal direction reaching to excretory canals but not laterally to them; in anterior direction reaching tubular stage of uterus and in many proglottides as far as anterior to it; dorsally to developing uterus. Female genitalia situated porally. Vitellarium two-winged, slightly lobed, increasing in width from 0.050-0.081 (in early mature proglottides) to 0. 137-0. 212 (when fully developed); in postmature proglottides its measurements decreasing up to full degeneration. Ovary highly lobed, in mature proglottides increasing from 0. 100-0. 112 (in young) to 0.281-0. 550 (in developed). Vaginal orifice ventral to male pore. Vagina with well-developed musculature, 0.085-0.200 (n=53) long and 0.017-0.020 (n=6) in diamètre; length of vagina slightly shorter or equal to length of cirrus sac. Seminal receptacle between poral excretory canals and Mehlis' gland; its dimensions 0.142-0.158x0.080-0.090 (n=5) in mature proglottides and 0. 231-0.314x0. 070-0.107 (n = 6) in postmature ones. Mehlis' gland clearly visible and inwelldeveloped mature proglottides with a diamètre of 0. 072-0. 085. Uterus initially seen in 26-28th proglottis as band-like cellular aggregation situated ventrally and anteriorly to ovary; its ends overlapping excretory canals. In 30-31st proglottis uterus tubular with distinct lumen 0.025 in diamètre; connected with Mehlis' gland by another tubular structure. In 33-35th proglottis uterus widening gradually and in this stage its ends situated laterally to excretory canals. Sacculations beginning to form in 43-46th proglottis. In last postmature and gravid proglottides uterus filling whole proglottis. Eggs spherical, with measurements 0. 035-0.038x0. 028-0.035 (n = 25), with pyriform apparatus. Additional data (based on specimens from M._nlvalis; for measurements see Table 4): Strobilae without gravid proglottides. Differentiation of proglottides beginning at 0.281-0.437 (n=6) from posterior margin of suckers. The ratio length/width in mature proglottides 1: 3.85.2, in postmature ones - 1: 3. 2-3.9. One, rarely two or three round bodies (of tissue stained as vitelline tissue) situated in poral part of mature proglottides. These bodies are more often posterior to cirrus sac and vagina and rarely anterior to them. Cirrus sac crossing the excretory canals.
