Testes situated posteriorly to female genitalia, crossing dorsal excretory canals and overlapping ventral canals, in some cases part of them laterally to ventral canals. Vas deferens 0.009-0.012 (av. 0.010, n=9) wide, coiled in cirrus sac and in anterior part of median field dorsally to cirrus sac. Cirrus sac highly elongate, reaching up to the middle of proglottis; provided with well developed retractor muscle (seen in well-stained specimens) extending from its proximal end to anterior margin of proglottis laterally to aporal excretory canals. Cirrus (in Berlese fluid) about 0. 310 long (n=l) when fully evaginated, with diameter of 0.005 (n=l); armed with needle-like spines about 0.003 long. Vagina opens dorsally to male orifice and passes anteriorly and dorsally to cirrus sac; copulatory and conductive part not well differentiated. Seminal receptacle developed in last mature, postmature and gravid proglottides; situated near vitellarium; round or elongate, with measurements 0.045-0.088x0.030-0.060 (av. 0. 066x0.045, n=12). Vitellarium situated medially, lobate. Ovary with two wings, aporal wing usually slightly larger than poral; both wings consisting of 9-14 lobes; occupies almost whole anterior third of median field and its ends overlap ventral excretory canals. Mehlis' gland not distinct. Uterus in early stages reticular; later, with development of eggs, occupies almost entire internal volume of proglottis. Eggs oval or suboval. Embryonal hooks three pairs. One of the hooks in every lateral pair massive, with length 0.013-0.014 (av. 0.0136, n=10), the other one thin, similar to those of medial pair, with length 0.012 (n = 3). Hooks of medial pair 0.012-0.013 (av. 0.0122, n=10) long. Remarks : The results of the present study of the type specimens of M. leptophallus are generally in agreement with its original description. There are, however, some substantial differences particularly in relation to the metric characteristics (see Table 1). In addition to KOTLÁN's description, new information about the number of testes, position of genital ducts to the excretory canals, the pattern of uterus development, etc. (not described in the original paper) was obtained. Further comments on the generic position of M. leptophallus are presented in the remarks about M. horvathi. Megacirrus horvathi (Kotlán, 1923) Spasskaja et Spassky, 1977 Figs 15-23 and 35-38. Syn. : Dilepis horvathi Kotlán, 192 3 Host and locality: Megapodius freycinet affinis (Gaim, 1823) (originally labelled as M. brunneiventris Meyer, 18741; New Guinea, Port Moresby, Friedrich-Wilhelmshafen, coïïêcted'by'L. BIRÓ in the years 1897- 1899. Habitat: small intestine. Intensity: 10 specimens. Type material: Holotype, mounted by KOTLÁN (No. 4771/1); Paratypes, 1 specimen stained by KOTLÁN (No. 4771/2), 6 new stained specimens (Nos 4771/3-8) and fragments of two specimens in formaline. Holotype and Paratypes deposited in HNHM, one specimen (No 4771/3) in Central Helm. Lab., Sofia. Redescription (for measurements see Table 1): Longest specimen (with length 49) consisting of 288 (158 premature, 79 mature, 39 postmature and 12 gravid) proglottides. Maximum width at last postmature proglottides. Scolex massive, not clearly distinguished from the initial part of strobila. Suckers elongate, with well developed musculature. Rostellum highly elongate, with maximum diameter at crown of
