MATERIALS AND METHODS The fish hosts were obtained from 3 sites in Malaya: Tasek Bera, Pahang, Bukit Merah Reservoir, Perak and Tanjung Karang, Selangor. The monogeneans were gently dislodged from freshly removed gills and transfered using fine pipette onto slide and examined under slight coverslip pressure under a phase contrast microscope. The monogeneans were later fixed in ammoniumpicrate or glycerine-gelatine. Measurements are done on preserved specimens only. Illustrations of the whole worm are composite drawings made with the aid of a tracing device during the study of live specimens. The anteromedial and posterolateral anchors have been shown to be the dorsal and ventral anchors respectively (see Discussion later) and these terms will be used instead. In citing measurements the averages and ranges in parentheses are to the nearest micrometer. The holotypes are deposited in the USNM, Helminthological Collection, Beltsville, Maryland, while the paratypes are deposited in both the USNM and in the Department of Zoology University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur UMZD(P). DESCRIPTIONS Heteronchocleidus buschkieli Bychowsky, 1957 (Fig. 1-7). Host: Trichopsis vittatus (Cuvier et Vallenciennes) (Belontiidae). Locality: Tasek Bera, Pahang. Type specimen: Paratype 1 UMZD(P) No. 98. No. measured: 10. Body size 415 (375-427) x 90 (63-104). Dorsal anchors unequal, rudimentary anchor, arcuate, length 15 (13-16); developed anchor, inner length 28 (26-29), outer length 21 (21-24), inner root 7 (5-8), outer root 3 (3-4) and point 7 (6-9). Ventral anchors equally developed, inner length 29 (27-31), outer length 21 (21-25), inner root 8 (5-8), outer root 3 (3-4) and point 7 (6-9). 2 haptoral bars, size 26 (24-28) x 0. 5 (0. 5-1. 0). Marginal hook length 12 (12-15). Remarks The present species fits the description for Heteronchocleidus buschkieli Bychowsky, 1957 obtained from _Macrj^odu^_op^rjculax^s_(Macropodinae) This is confirmed by comparing the present specimens with the type specimens deposited in the Leningrad Museum Collection (by the kind courtesy of Dr. A.V. GUSSEV). The present specimens differ slightly from the original specimens only in the sizes of the sclerotised parts. Hitherto 7 species of Heteronchocleidus have been described from Indochina (H. buschkieli Bychowsky, 1957), India (H. gracilis Mizelle et Kritsky, 1969), Africa (H. ctenopamae Paperna, 1969, H. adjanohouni Euzet et Dossou, 1975, H. tuzetae Euzet et Dossou, 1975 and H. oue men si s Euzet et Dossou, 1975) and China (H. magnihamatus Chang et Ji, 1980). H. buschkieli has also been reported from ^^Çr^od^_sin_en.§i_s (Tchang et Ji, 1981) and this present report represents the first record of H. buschkieli for T^ vittatus and for Malaya. Heteronchocleidus have been obtained from fishes belonging to the Anabantidae and Belontiidae of suborder Anabantoidei of the order Perciformes (Nelson, 1984). Trianchoratus acleithrium Price et Berry 1966 (Fig. 8-13). Host: He los toma_t e mmi ncki (Cuvier et Vallenciennes) (Helostomidae). Locality: Bukit Merah Reservoir, Perak. Type specimens: Paratype UMZD(P) No. 20. No. measured: 20.
