testis in the median line of the body; caeca reach the equatorial level and the vitelline glands are situated along the lateral region of body from the pharynx to the acetabulum. BRAVO-HOLLIS (1941) regarded the latter species to be a synonym of the former; FUKUI (1929) and WALTON (1938) were of the opinion that they are synonymous with D. subclavatus. While the writer agrees with BRAVO-HOLLlS's synonymization, he should like to emphasize, to the contrary of FUKUI and WALTON, the special combination of characters in these species. The position of the testis and the length of the caeca are characteristic of the genus Catadiscus ; arrangement of the vitellaria is similar to that of Diplodiscus. In the endeavour to designate monophylic groups in these amphistomes, the separation of the taxon including Australian frog amphistomes from the genus Diplodiscus seems to be evident and the establishment of a new genus, Australodiscus is proposed. The genus comprises a single species: Australodiscus megalorchus (Johnston, 1912) nov. comb. Syn. : D. michrorchis Johnston, 1912).
